It never fails. Every single time I buy candles that aren't a Bath & Body Works brand, something always goes wrong: the scent disappears too quickly, the wick won't stay lit, the wax burns way too fast or, most recently, the wick kept sliding all over the place. I had only used half of a candle from another brand but noticed the wick disappeared. I wiggled a number two pencil around to see if I could find it. No dice.
Then it hit me that I had a candle warmer that could easily resolve this. Remixing Meghan Markle’s episode teaching viewers how to make candles, I figured out how to troubleshoot this. I turned the candle warmer on and put the candle jar on top. A few minutes later, I saw the wick turned completely sideways at the bottom of the jar. I grabbed a set of pliers, balanced them against one of my ceramics, flipped the wick upward with a chopstick (and held the wick tip in place with the pliers), and turned the wax burner off. As soon as the wax hardened, with the wick centered again, I was able to light the candle without needing the warmer.
