When your key breaks in the lock
... and tweezers, pliers, screws and knives won't pry the key out

Whether you’re superstitious or not, sometimes things happen that are just a little too coincidental. My Friday the 13th resulted in the following:
a client’s account was suspended so I didn’t get paid on time
my bidet started leaking and soaked my bathroom mat
a loose dog took off out of someone’s door and tried to confront my dog
pollen was so bad that my eyes were blood red, making contact lenses out of the question
It wasn’t even 1 p.m. It was the kind of day that makes you want to CTRL + ALT + DELETE and start all over again. I didn’t think the day could possibly get any worse until I returned home with my dog, unlocked my screen door, got ready to open my back door and saw this:
Somehow, some way, I managed to leave home to walk my dog, broke the key in the lock and didn’t notice until I returned. And this key opens the deadbolt lock and the doorknob key. I stood at my back door giggling.
ADVERTISEMENT ~ Amazon
As an Amazon affiliate, I earn a percentage from purchases with my referral links. I know some consumers are choosing to boycott Amazon for its DEI removal. However, after thinking about this thoroughly, I want to continue promoting cool products from small businesses, women-owned businesses and (specifically) Black-owned businesses who still feature their items on Amazon. As of the first date of Black History Month 2025, each new post will ALWAYS include a MINIMUM of one product sold by a Black-owned business. (I have visited the seller’s official site to verify that Amazon Black-owned logo.) I am (slowly) doing this with older, popular posts too. If you still choose to boycott, I 100% respect that decision.

How much worse could my Friday the 13th get? While I’m sure my dog thought I was losing my mind, I pondered on what to do next (besides go through the front door). Somehow, my older brother’s amateur locksmithing lessons came in handy.
