It’s been 40 days of seeing and reading depressing, infuriating and startlingly racist news online. Even though the 92% (and the rest of the 75,019,268 voters) knew exactly what would happen, it’s enough to make you turn off your phone, unplug your television and stop listening to your favorite news podcast (if the host hasn’t been unjustifiably terminated). Even for people who don’t have anxiety, doomscrolling can end up creating similar mental health challenges, including depression, sleep difficulties, weight gain and binge-eating.

Voters can’t totally tune out and need to know what’s going on. Local elections matter as much — if not more — than presidential elections. Before everyday activities reach the person occupying the White House (or a Tesla facility), local laws pass by alder(wo)men, mayors, governors, state senators and state House reps.
But what should you do in your home in the meantime? It’s a good idea to always take care of yourself. For some, that means heading to the beauty salon or the barbershop. For others, that means a manicure or pedicure. However, for some people, those are extra expenses (tip not included) that’s just not realistic when egg substitutes are cheaper than actual eggs.

But there’s nothing stopping you from creating your own at-home spa where the only person you have to tip is yourself. Here are eight spa categories that are all under $35 each to help you make your bedroom or bathroom into a personal “me time.” Log off and lock in to maintaining your own sanity.
